  • Shoe Dilemma

I've been looking for a shoe rack for the past couple of weeks now to house my ever growing collection of shoes. I have a plain stainless steel open rack which me and my dad bought when I first moved to the US and it's been sitting in my coat closet ever since. Now that I'm moving, I've been thinking of a more efficient way to 'transfer' my shoes to a 'better environment'. For one, I want my shoes to go in a cabinet, with doors you can actually open for each shoe, like a compartment thing. I've seen some being sold at Target but Jerome insists it's not practical since it's made of wood and it will be too heavy. Here's what I want to have. I plan to just buy more of it to stack up, and put them on my new garage. That way I won't be going in to the new house with shoes that came from outside. I want to keep my tiles and carpet clean, and at the same time not alienate the hall closet to just for sure since some of them stink after some time. For once I'd like to utilize the hall closet for coats and storage.

Pretty isn't it. Ideally I'd want to have doors on it but even without, I think my shoes will like its new home. Unfortunately, Jerome does not agree with me and insists I buy this instead.

I of course hate it. For one I think it's made of plastic and it looks awful. Yes you can rearrange them but based on the reviews, they're not easy and your hands will bleed by the time you get to the 5th one.

Last night I went to Wal-Mart to see what they have, and I ended up buying what I currently have. Just another extension anyway. I thought that for now, that will have to do. So, here's how my current coat closet looks like.

I still don't know what to do with them when I move. I mean, will I buy a new 'house' for them or will I end up using what I currently have. Since they'll be sitting in the garage, I'm hoping I can get the wooden ones to offer protection for my shoes since they'll be exposed 100% of the time. As you can see, I'm a shoe addict, a suede one for that. At the end of the day, I just don't want them to collect dust.

To answer the $67M question running through your minds now:

Yes I wear them all every other day. (Except for the rubber shoes since I hardly exercise.) I rotate them every now and then. I have work shoes and weekend shoes.

Except for the rubber shoes on top and the 2 sneakers hiding on the floor, all of my shoes are Aerosoles. Yes, every single 1 of them except for the peek-toe one.

  • Last Minute Stuff

Though it's still 30 something days before the wedding, I have this mental checklist of what I still haven't accomplished for the wedding yet.

    1.) Hair Stylist
    2.) Gifts for principal sponsors
    3.) Printing of place cards
    4.) Printing of menu cards
5.) Anything music/entertainment related (I got the DJ but so far Jerome and I haven't done our 'homework' yet)
6.) Wedding Guest Book (I planned on doing a scrapbook type of guest book. That was 1.5 months ago.)
7.) Eyebrow threading/waxing & Upper Lip threading/waxing (Is it really necessary and which is better?)
8.) Seating arrangements (ceremony and reception)

I think so far that's all there is to my mental checklist. I'm pretty sure it's going to get even crazier after the next 2 weeks. I hope I'm not forgetting anything.

Really hard to be doing this alone.

  • Space Junk

I don't consider myself an activisit, environmentalist, or any of those at all. I do recycle but it's because I want the money I paid for in advance when buying anything in bottles & cans. Last night though, I was watching the news and they showed a picture of how our space looks like right now. And for some reason, I got alarmed. Here's a picture of what NASA is calling Space Junk.

"Ninety-five percent of the objects represented by white dots in this computer-generated illustration are human-made debris. Scientists warn that the growing amount of space junk orbiting the Earth threatens the safety of human and robotic space missions."

My impression of the universe is as clean as how Star Trek portrayed it in all its series. This picture freaked me out. How could we have made this much mess?

Hong Kong artist Edison Chen held a press conference announcing his retreat from the entertainment industry because of the racy photos that got leaked and scattered everywhere in the Internet. I watched him (http://www.cnn.com/video/#/video/world/2008/02/21/yoon.hk.celebrity.scandal.cnn) and thought this is so sad. One person's career ruined because other people had malicious thoughts and spread the pictures that weren't meant to be publicized. So what if he had "extra-curricular" activities like taking photos of ladies he's been with. It wasn't meant to be publicized and it should've just remained that way. I don't even know if this guy Edison Chen is a good actor/singer or not, but still, to me he's just another person trying to make a living. And to say in his press conference that he's leaving the industry indefinitely, it's just so sad to hear about it.

So many questions popped through my head. Why did he have to resign? Does that mean that people are still too narrow-minded to not let the issue go and die down and just get on with life? So what if he took those pictures? Does that make him a bad actor? It's all about reputation and yes, he soiled it. But to give up his career? Too drastic for me. I didn't think he'd hold a press conference to announce it. I would've imagined he'd just lie low for awhile, no projects, but come back after the issue's died down. This whole article is just so sad. I think it's so unfair...
